Gentleman Society Ambrée

What a long, tiring name to say. I'm not gonna repeat or shorten it, so just remember it for me. First of all, this is not a niche, groundbreaking or even slightly experimental fragrance. This is a tried and tested combination that has been done for decades, and I really don't like it. I tend to loathe perfumes that try way too hard to fit some sort of mental image of who's supposed to be wearing it. However, this boring Arial Uppercase Bold font brand has surprised me! Instantly, from the first spray, you can tell that a lot more thought went into the ingredients here because the quality is palpable. I was blown away at how smooth, sweet and filling the opening is. However, this is exactly what a mid-life, startup finance C-suite, three-piece suit wearing man would wear to entice women (at least a decade younger) into going to a SoHo penthouse after-party. This reeks of someone who wants to be seen as a gentleman but might have multiple allegations (please don't sue me I'm broke). While I was testing this, I think people were surprised to get a couple whiffs, turning around and seeing me; a young man of smaller stature with an old, ripped Comme des Garcons shirt, baggy cargos with the pockets ripped off and a messenger bag barely holding on to my shoulders in front of them. Back to the review. Very long lasting (whole 12 hour flight), drying down to a succulent, sweet tobacco, carried on a fresh, earthy bed of sandalwood and vetiver. The tobacco is really the MVP here, it reminds me of when I visited a cigar rolling factory in Cuba in 2014. The sillage is nothing special, close conversation-esque, like keeping the distance with someone you're not really into. This is not going to be in my rotation because it simply doesn't represent or speak to me, but I will be having some fun by combining it with more unworthy outfits in the future.
